I grew up always looking up to my mother who worked as a nurse at Winter Park Hospital in Florida. She always knew what to do when me, my sister or any friends got sick/hurt. I loved how she never had to run to the ED when one of us had a cold/flu. Additionally, she always took care of our friends and family members. This is how I knew I wanted to work in the medical field so that I could provide the same medical care for my own family in the future. When I got older, I was able to shadow different doctors and stand in during operations in the OR. After watching my first total knee replacement, I was hooked! I wanted to scrub in and saw the bone down on the next patient coming in. This was when I decided that becoming a doctor was my calling. I still don’t know exactly what doctor I want to be but I am excited for what the future holds!
