USMLE Step 1 Tutoring Works?

Once you’ve contacted us and provided us with the relevant information during the consultation scheduling process, we’ll set you up with one of our highly-experienced tutors for a free, 30-minute consultation. About USMLE Step 1
The USMLE Step 1 is the first in a series of three exams that make up the United States Medical Licensing Examination which all medical students must pass to become licensed physicians in the United States.
This is a computer-based examination held for over eight hours in a single day. The examination is divided into seven 60-minute blocks and, while the question numbers per block vary, they won’t exceed 40, with the total question number not exceeding 280. In each question, there will be a possible clinical exam scenario with a patient who describes their symptoms and medical history.
Through these scenarios, you will be asked the ‘what’ and ‘why’ behind their symptoms. The questions cover all important concepts relating to the practice of medicine, including:

Who are your tutors?
Our tutors are an elite group of students and physicians who have excelled during their time in medical school and careers. We chose our tutoring staff based on how well they scored in their USMLE Step exams, their teaching ability and interpersonal skills.
What does a typical session look like?
A typical session lasts for an hour between you and your tutor and will focus on the specific content of your choice. We teach in the learning style that most benefits you because everyone learns differently. The same content can be taught different ways to different tutees. Regardless, every session concludes with you achieving a goal: a deeper understanding of that topic.

Anywhere and everywhere! All of our tutoring sessions are virtual via video meeting platform, so you can master anything from the comfort of your home!
Will you help me choose resources and build a study schedule?
Absolutely! Part of our duty as tutors is to not only help you understand the content, but also help you create the optimal study schedule that works best for you, using the material and resources that we believe can help you master every learning objective tested in school exams and in the USMLE and COMLEX exams!
How often do we meet?
As often as you’d like! However we recommend meeting twice a week. This typically creates a well rounded ratio of individual learning, learning and application paired with your tutor, and individual application of what you’ve learned that week.
What exams and subjects do you tutor?
Our goal at Medical School Companion is to be exactly that — your companion through the entire medical school journey. Therefore we tutor for every exam you’ll see in your medical school career, starting from the MCAT, and all the way through clerkship exams. We’re here with you through every USMLE and COMLEX exam.
Do you provide an assessment?
Yes! Currently we offer a 100 question diagnostic exam for our tutees. When you have your first meeting, we’ll set up your login info for access!
Are sessions recorded for me to come back to?
Absolutely! If you want to have your sessions recorded, just let your tutor know and they will record them and send them to you after the session is complete!
Do I get access to the learning content and notes made by my tutor?
Yes! However we believe in our motto “Draw it to know it.” So, you’ll definitely want to create your own notes during your personalized tutoring session.
